- LANE Teacher Creativity Grant is awarded annually to teachers and administrators to provide unique learning experiences to students. The LANE Teachers Creativity Grant will provide $500 to $1000 for teachers to complete a project of a new learning experience with the students that may not otherwise happen. Projects selected will enable student growth in mind, heart, and spirit to act as good stewards in their local community.
- 2016 LANE Teacher Creativity Grant Recipients:
- Zentangle (Maggie Kendzicky and Kim Higdon) St. Barnabas School—a monumental Zentengle Banner was created by the St. Barnabas students. The Zentengle method was introduced as a structured art program to the school. Zentengle is an easy-to-learn, relaxing, and fun way to create images by drawing structured patterns. Through the grant, students were able to learn a positive way to channel everyday stresses and build self-esteem.
- 2017 LANE Teacher Creativity Grant Recipient:
- Learning Garden (Karen Miller and Denise Wilson) St. Barnabas School—students planted a healthy vegetable garden that the upcoming class harvested. Food from the garden was provided to the local community. Students learned the importance of growing food, proper nutrition, and giving back to the community.
- LANE Community Day is designed by students to fulfill a community need. Students design a community service project that is conducted annually to help address a local community need. Students and the community at large participate in the one day event.
